SKNFA TO AVOID CRICKET WOES - 8th November, 2005

Callers to the ZIZ Television Cricket Roundup of the First Test between Australia and West Indies lamented and bemoaned the embarrassing showing of the West Indies in the 1st Test against Australia.


A number of callers, identified the reasons for the embarrassing performance, they included, lack of investment in Youth Development, indiscipline among the players, lack of national pride, the poor standard of Regional Cricket, among others.


Technical Director of the SKNFA reacting to the callers to ZIZ Television said that it is in an attempt to ensure that the footballers in St. Kitts/Nevis bring pride and not embarrassment to the Nation of St. Kitts/Nevis that he was calling on the sports loving public of St. Kitts/Nevis to support his Technical development programme towards 2010.


The development programme is based on youth development. In that regard three youth teams are already in training U-13, U-15, and U-17 towards 2010.  The developing of local coaches with the establishing of the E & D SKNFA Coaching License to provide the educators to teach the children.


The programme is also based on the establishment of the MLF which is a semi-pro league intended to greatly improve the standard of the Premier Division.  This MLF will include overseas players, incentives to players and a youth national team, that would assist with the accelerated development of the youth players.


All of the above coupled with overseas exposure at an early age is intended to prepare our footballers to bring pride to our nation.


The Technical Director would like to thank the callers to ZIZ Television for highlighting the woes of West Indies Cricket for by so doing, have given support to the solutions offered by the SKNFA for the way forward for football in St. Kitts/Nevis.
